Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland, located in the Midlothian region of Scotland. The city has a population of 448,624, making it the second-largest city in Scotland after Glasgow. Brewers are also based in the city, the Caledonian Brewery being the largest in the country after the closure of the Fountainbridge brewery in 2005. Edinburgh's main railway station, Waverley, sees services across the UK, to London, the South Coast, Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen and Dundee among a number of local destinations. Edinburgh is also served by its own airport, and sees flights around Europe, to destnations including Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, Moscow, Paris, Alicante, Malaga, Faro, Stockholm and Copenhagen. Additionally, a number of scheduled UK domestic flights and 'highlands and islands' flights operate alongside frequent charters. Edinburgh also sees trans-Atlantic services to Newark, Toronto and Atlanta (starting in May). Nearby towns to Edinburgh include Livingstone, Dunfermline, Cowdenbeath, Falkirk, Glenrothes, Alloa and Dalkeith.
