Macclesfield is a town of 69,000 inhabitants, in the county of Cheshire. It is considered to be one of the wealthiest towns in Britain. The town is on the edge of the Peak District, and lies on the River Bollin. The town was granted a Royal Charter in 1261. In 1745, Charles Stuart marched through town en route to London.
