Keswick is a market town in Cumbria, situated north of Derwent Water. The town was first recorded as Cese-wick, indicating it acted as a cheese market. Mining later took place here on a small scale, and Keswick became the source of the worlds first graphite pencils. The industry remains today, and a pencil museum remains as a tourist attraction in the town.
