Limavady is a town in the County Londondery, Northern Ireland. It is the administrative town of Limavady Borough Council. Together with the neighbouring district of Coleraine, it forms the East Londonderry constituency for elections to the Westminster Parliament and Northern Ireland Assembly. The town is renowned for lying the the Roe Valley, an area of natural beauty, in which the Broighter Gold was discovered by a farmer in 1896. The gold is an example of the skill of Celtic metalworkers. The town has a population of 13,000 people. The greater borough area has a total of 32,000.
