Launceston is a town in Cornwall, in the south West of the UK. it's population is approximately 7000. Launceston is known as the 'Gateway to Cornwall' due to its proximity to the Devon border. There is a castle in Launceston, of the early Motte and Bailey design. It has always been an important town, at one point being a Parliamentary borough, and later was also Capital of Cornwall.
