Liskeard is a town of approximately 20,000 inhabitants. It is an ancient Stannary and Market town in south east Cornwall, and is the administrative centre of the Caradon district of Cornwall. Liskeard is situated at the head of the River Looe, and about 14 miles west of the Tamar river. The town is linked to London, Plymouth, Exeter and the UK via the Great Western Main Line, and the town is also on the Looe Valley railway line to Looe. The A38 road links the town with Plymouth and Exeter, and the national motorway network. Towns nearby include Tavistock, St Austell, Plymouth, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow.
