Redruth is a town in Cornwall. It has a population of 12,323 inhabitants. The town gained prosperity with demand for copper ore rocketing in the eighteenth century, as copper was required to make brass - an essential metal in the industrial revolution. Due to demand being high, and Redruth having large deposits of copper ore, the town rapidly became a hugely prosperous mining area, and its population grew rapidly.
