About Brighton - show infohide info
Brighton is a seaside resort on the English Channel in East Sussex south of London. Brighton became a fashionable resort after 1783 when the Prince of Wales (later George IV) began to patronize it. The Royal Pavilion, in a combination of Chinese and Mogul styles, was designed by the noted architect John Nash. Brighton Marina is one of the largest in Europe. The old town centre is preserved as The Lanes, small cottages in twisting lanes, brimming with antique shops, bookshops, and cafe's. Surrounding areas include Worthing, Lancing, Findon, Ferring, Hove, Shoreham and Steyning.
