Bolton a borough of northwest England. Bolton grew slowly over the centuries from a small settlement on the wild Lancashire Moors to a town important enough to be attacked three times during the Civil War. Sport has long been a favourite pastime in Bolton and was one of the founder clubs of the Football League in 1888.
