St Albans is a cathedral city in the county of Hertfordshire. It lies on the A5, and was the first main town for travellers travelling north from London on the A5. The town is now mainly a commuter town for London, though a number of people are empoyed in the town for tourism and service industry purposes. St Albans sees rail services to London as a part of the main Bedford to Brighton line, which travels via London Bridge. Trains between Luton and Wimbledon also travel via London Kings Cross. Additionally, St Albans is the starting point for trains to Wimbledon, and again services pass through London.
