Hillsborough is a small Georgian Village in County Down, Ulster, Northern Ireland, 12 miles from the city of Belfast. The castle overlooking Hillsborough is the official residence of HM Elizabeth II of England (and family members) when visiting the province. Heads of State will often stay there too. There are many local pubs serving local delicacies. The town holds an annual Oyster Festival, which attacts thousands of visitors from around the world. Various competitions and other activities occur in the town during the festival including boat racing and parachute jumping. The town is close to both the A1 and M1, linking the town to Belfast; thus Hillsborough is a popular dormitory town for the capital city. Nearby towns include Lisburn, Belfast, Craigavan, Lurgan, Portadown, Dromore, Moira, Waringstown and Banbridge.
