Keighley is a town of 51,429 inhabitants accoridng to the 2001 census. It is situated to the north west of Bradford, in the county of West Yorkshire. Historically, the town has been involved in the textiles and cotton industry, though as with the rest of the UK, this has seen massive decline over the past 100 years. Attractions in the town include the Keighley and Worth Valley railway, a popular tourist attraction, Cliffe Castle and the Keighley museum. Keighley has a reputation as a boring town, as it was named 40th most boring town in the UK. The author Bill Bryson also suggested allowing the Army to use Keighley for munitions practice, and Martin Newell also included the line "'I'll tell you once, I'll tell you briefly / I don't want to go to Keighley." The town is linked by rail to Leeds and Bradford, and trains to Morecambe and Carlisle also call here. Keighley is linked to the M61 and M1 via the A629.
