The town is located 9 miles to the south of Glasgow, and lies on the Rotten Calder. This holds the title of largest indoor shopping centre in Scotland and 10th largest in Europe. East Kilbride lies at the end of a railway branch line, and sees twice hourly trains to and from Glasgow Central, where connections can be made to most of Scotland and the UK. The town is a popular commuter town for Glasgow thanks to its proximity and links to the city.
