About Bolton - show infohide info
Bolton a borough of northwest England. Bolton grew slowly over the centuries from a small settlement on the wild Lancashire Moors to a town important enough to be attacked three times during the Civil War. Bolton was a centre of the woollen trade from the 14th to the 18th century as well as supporting trades such as engineering and the building of the railways which fostered all industries. Sport has long been a favourite pastime in Bolton and was one of the founder clubs of the Football League in 1888.
