Oakham is a town of approximately 10,000 inhabitants, in the county of Rutland. Oakham lies close to Rutland Water, one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe. Tourist attractions in Oakham include All Saints' Church and Oakham Castle. Only the great hall of the Norman castle remains standing, surrounded by earthworks marking the inner and outer bailies.
