Antrim is a small town, in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is administrative centre for the Antrim borough council. The town sits on the edge of Six Mile Water, half a mile from Lough Neagh. Antrim is an historical town with a round tower built by monks whent the Vikings invaded the land. Other attractions include Shane's tower and Six Mile River. There was also a castle, burnt down in 1922, allegedly by Sinn Fein. The river allowed a linen trade to set up in the town, and now there is also a technology park in the town. The town is 22 miles north west of Belfast, and is connected by the Northern Counties (Midland) railway, and is also the terminus of a branch of the Great Northern railway from Lisburn. The M22/M2 motorways join close tot he town, providing a link to Belfast. Belfast Aldergrove airport is also close by, with flights around the UK and Europe. Nearby towns to Antrim include Belfast, Ballyclare, Randalstown, Caddy, Moneyglass, Crumlin, Staffordstown and Mossley.
