Hull or Kingston upon Hull is a city situated on the north bank of the Humber estuary. Hull is surrounded by the East Riding of Yorkshire, but is a unitary authority. Chartered in 1299, the city has been a major seaport since the late 1700s. Surrounding areas include Hornsea and Withernsea.
