Leominster is a town in the county of Herefordshire, situated on the River Lugg. It has a population of 11,000 people. The town the site of the first battle between the Normans and the Welsh in 1052, the Battle of Llanelli. In the 20th Century, Leominster became the administrative centre for the local government district of Leominster, though this ceased in 1994. The town is famed for its numerous antique shops, which bring in a number of visitors. The town also has a priory, dating from the 12th century. This was originally a monastery, and now serves as a parish church. Towns close to Leominster include Hereford, Worcester, Ludlow and Great Malvern.
