Stourbridge is a town in the county of the West Midlands. the town has a population of approximately 55,000 inhabitants. though in the West Midlands officially, the towns postcode and cricket team are considered to be in Worcestershire, as these didn't change when the counties were re-aligned in 1974. A small number in the town still consider themselved to be in Worcestershire. Stourbridge takes its name from the River Stour, which flows through the centre of the town. For centuries, the river had been the border between Worcestershire and Staffordshire, however the border moved in 1966, placing Stourbridge in Stafordshire, and later in the West Midlands.
