Giffnock is an area within the Glasgow conurbation in Scotland, located where the A77 road from Glasgow to Kilmarnock crosses the A727 from Paisley to East Kilbride. It lies outside the City of Glasgow local authority area and houses the administrative offices of East Renfrewshire council. It is located next to Clarkston. Giffnock is a relatively wealthy area, and is also home to one of Scotland's largest Jewish communities. The local MP for this area is Jim Murphy having won over 43% of the vote beating Richard Cook and Gordon MacDonald. The local MSP is Ken McIntosh. Former Gladiators referee John Anderson once described the area as "the nicest place to kill goats." It should be noted that goats are very rarely, if ever, killed in Giffnock. Infact, if anyone was found to be killing goats, they would likely face criminal charges. It is also home to Cabe and Crory creators of the Jims Adventures series. towns nearby include Glasgow, Motherwell, Paisley, Hamilton, Kilmarnock, Irvine and East Kilbride.
