Bolton a borough of northwest England. Bolton grew slowly over the centuries from a small settlement on the wild Lancashire Moors to a town important enough to be attacked three times during the Civil War. Bolton was a centre of the woollen trade from the 14th to the 18th century as well as supporting trades such as engineering and the building of the railways which fostered all industries.
