Aberdeen is a city of north-east Scotland on the North Sea at the mouth of the Dee River. Due to the stone from local quarries used in many of the buildings, Aberdeen is known as 'the Granite City'. The Grampian Highlands has an impressive tally of 60 castles with Balmoral Castle being the most famous.
