The city of Norwich is the regional administrative centre and capital city of the county of Norfolk, England. Norwich city was sacked by Danes in the 11th century and devastated by the Black Death in 1348. At the time of the Norman conquest, Norwich was one of the largest cities in England, and it continued to be a major centre for trade, especially wool. The University of East Anglia was founded in Norwich in 1963. Norwich airport offers scheduled international services and holiday charter flights, and developed from the former RAF airfield at Horsham St Faith.
