Ramsgate is a seaside resort in the county of Kent, on the island of Thanet. Ramsgate has an estimated population of approximately 40,000 people. The grew around Ramsgate Harbour, on which construction started in 1749, though the harbour wasn't officially completed until 1850. Ramsgate harbour has the distinction of being the only Royal titled harbour in the UK, a title awarded in 1821 after a visit by King George IV and the Royal Yacht Squadron.
