Trowbridge is a town in the county of Wiltshire. According to the 2001 census, Trowbridge has a population of 28,141 poeple. Trowbridge lies on the River Biss. The name of the town is thought to come from a root meaning 'Tree Bridge', referring to the first bridge over the River Biss. Trowbridge was originally dominated by the wool trade.
