The castle was rebuit in the 19th century as a country house, and is now a luxury hotel. Ruthin was once served by the Rhyl-Corwen Vale of Clwyd Railway, however along with many other lines of similar status, it was closed during the Beeching era. The former station site is now occupied by a roundabout in the town centre as well as a craft centre. Towns close to Ruthin include Denbigh, Mold, Buckley, Chester, Wrexham and Shotton.
